The Caribbean Branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators was formed in 2006 and launched in 2007. The Caribbean Branch covers the entire Caribbean region and welcomes members from all countries in the region. The Branch is a part of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators based in the UK.
Within the Branch there are Chapters in Barbados , British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Jamaica, St Lucia and Trinidad and Tobago . The Branch Annual General Meeting is held before 30th April each year and all members are entitled to attend in person or by conference call. The Branch is managed by an Executive Committee elected by the members at the Annual General Meeting. Members of the Committee are elected for three years and retire in rotation.
The Branch Patron is The Right Honourable Sir Dennis Byron, Former President of the Caribbean Court of Justice and an Honorary Fellow of the CIArb.
The aim of the CIArb and the Branch is to promote the use and understanding of Alternative Dispute Resolution (“ADR”) including Arbitration, Mediation and Adjudication. These aims are achieved by arranging conferences and training courses.

The membership includes Lawyers, Architects, Accountants, Engineers, Surveyors and many others with a diverse experience in dispute resolution.
The Branch currently has 254 members (Students, Associates, Members, Fellows and Chartered Arbitrators) who are based throughout the Caribbean, providing a wide range of dispute resolution skills.
The Branch is governed by a set of Branch Rules which have been approved by the CIArb. Board of Trustees. A copy may be provided to you on request.
